Zirconia is a current promising ceramic material with excellent aesthetics for dental applications, but its performance when used as a framework (sub‐structure) for porcelain veneered dental bridges is still surpassed by metal‐ceramic combinations. The clinical success of zirconia frameworks depends on a number of parameters, but the framework design is critical. Modern Computer Aided Design (CAD) methods, as well as cutting edge Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), are now finding their way into Dental Technology.
